JEAN WIANT, CRE, DLRE
Jean became our first full-time Director of Lifespan Religious Education (DLRE) in August, 2005. She had previously been the DRE at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing (UUCWC) for four years, and at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore (UUCSJS) for three years. She was a founding member of UUCSJS and involved in many positions of leadership. She had previously been a member of the First Universalist Church of Berks County. Jean also served on the Board of Trustees for the Murray Grove Camp and Conference Center and has a member of the Murray Grove Association for a number of years. Jean received her Masters in Business Administration from Savannah State University in 1989 and her Bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1986. She held certifications in the state of New Jersey for substitute teaching grades K-12, and provisional teaching grades K-8. Jean has complete three graduate level courses toward completing the requirements for the Credentialed Religious Educator-Masters level status. She has completed 8 Renaissance Modules offered under the auspices of the UUA, and has attended many conferences and workshops at the district and national level. She has been a member of the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) for 8 years. Jean resides in Philipsburg, PA, with her husband, Dr. Frederick A. Smith, retired English teacher and professor, and her daughter, Ashley, a college senior.Jean became our first full-time Director of
