DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging presentation with Pam Adams\, Regional Planning Director for the Centre Region Council of Governments (CRCOG). Pam has served the region for 16 years\, leading sustainability planning and the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan while working with municipalities and community partners to advance meaningful environmental\, economic\, and energy initiatives. CRCOG\, a partnership of six Centre Region municipalities\, works collaboratively to provide shared services and address regional challenges. Pam will discuss how local government\, businesses\, and residents are taking action on climate priorities\, from solar installations and clean transportation efforts to food waste programs\, renewable natural gas projects\, and federal grants supporting safety and resiliency. She will also explore current gaps in climate progress and share emerging opportunities for the coming year\, including energy financing tools\, community stewardship initiatives\, and updates on Climate Action and Adaptation Plan goals. This presentation offers insight into how our region is moving toward a more sustainable future and ways for community members to get involved. \nThis program is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:With guest speaker Jackie Bonomo.\nJackie Bonomo holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies: Human Ecology from Huxley College at Western Washington University. A self-proclaimed “Jack of all trades”\, Jackie’s work has centered around her passions for books\, the natural world\, and physical well-being. Her experience spans roles in sustainable agriculture\, forestry\, solar design\, and education\, as well as serving in various community-based environmental and wellness initiatives. Jackie brings a holistic and deeply informed perspective to the conversatino. \nJoin us for an evening of reflection and discussion as we explore climate racism– how systemic racism intersects with the climate crisis. We’ll begin with guiding questions and short video clips to help define the topic\, followed by a group discussion. The program will also include a global perspective on who produces and who suffers from carbon emissions\, a visual map of this imbalance\, and powerful footage from affected communities around the world and in Pennsylvania. We’ll close with time for questions\, reflections\, and silence. \nThis program is free and open to the public.
