    The AAUW State College Used Book Sale, one of the largest used book sales in the country, is a popular community event held annually in the spring since 1962.  During the sale, thousands of visitors converge on Penn State’s Snider Agricultural Arena to browse and purchase up to quarter of a million books and other materials. Special sale features include children’s books, collectibles, puzzles and games, a half-price day, and a “bag day” with further discounts.     Community Event – Juneteenth 2025: Block Party Celebration

    More event information coming soon. Juneteenth is a celebration to commemorate the day federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, to ensure the freedom of all enslaved people. In June of 2021, President Joe Biden signed a bill to recognize Juneteenth as a federal holiday. Join us in honoring and remembering this important day in American history when the last group of enslaved African Americans were notified of their freedom. This year marks the sixth year anniversary that Juneteenth will be celebrated in the Borough of State College.
