The Board will offer two Chats with the Board in November and December. The main subject will be our evolving plans for signage, including the banners under the portico, the BLM banner, and our vision for a UUFCC sign where the BLM banner now sits.
Open to the public. Join Kelle Kersten on Zoom for a guided meditation during your lunch to center yourself for the coming week! Reach out to the UUFCC Office or to Kelle Kersten directly to receive the Zoom link.
Middle School youth engage in UU Identity through themes each month and fun activities using our Soul Matters curriculum. In services led by Rev. Tracy Sprowls, kids remain in the Sanctuary until the Wisdom Lesson, then go to class. In multigenerational services, they stay for the entire service.
Each week our kids gather to explore our world in light of our UU values. Pre-K/K friends will engage in guided exploration of various topics with their wonderful teachers, Sue Smith and Rocky Landers, downstairs in Room D.
Welcome to the Spirit Play Room! Each Sunday morning, your child will be welcomed into Room C, a quiet space with shelves lined with art supplies, story boxes, and mindful play stations. They will sit together in a circle where their teacher will present a story that invites your child into wondering about our UU values, history, rituals, social justice, and world faith traditions. Then they will be invited to process the story on their own through art and mindful play. They will choose what to explore on their own. This gentle, imaginative space will give them the opportunity to slow [...]
Welcome to the World Blessings Room! An important tenet of Unitarian Universalism is an appreciation of our world and its many blessings. World Blessings introduces our older elementary friends to our world's diverse countries, religions, and holidays through the shared activity of cooking! Cooking is a wonderful way to engage in cultural appreciation and education without appropriation. We'll engage with information about the culture from which the recipes originate, as well as the country, religion, holiday, or holy day being studied. We may also read a story that gives us an appreciation of the people we are focusing on. In addition, [...]
The participants of the UUFCC Resilience and Acceptance in the Face of Collapse course (which met from October 2023-February 2024) would like to invite UUFCC members and others to participate in the UUFCC Resilience and Acceptance Discussion Group. The purpose of this group is to create a safe and stimulating space for exploring resilience and acceptance in the face of the collapse of modern civilization and for supporting each other in making changes in our lives and communities to lessen the impact of collapse. “Resilience” includes both the capacity within each of us to allow and stay with difficult emotions while [...]
This lively and engaging presentation will give an overview of the history of this very misunderstood holiday. Based on the only primary source document that chronicles the “First Thanksgiving”, participants will learn accurate and culturally appropriate information about the English settlers at Plymouth and the Wampanoag, the Native people who inhabited that area. The presentation will discuss the actual events of 1621 in Plymouth, the relationship between the English and the Wampanoag, and how this story became the holiday we know today. The concept of thanksgiving held by many Native Americans will be emphasized throughout.
