From viral cat antics to goofy dog videos, animals have a way of lifting our spirits and reminding us of the joy in everyday life. This Sunday, we’ll celebrate the many ways our animal companions -- whether furry, feathered, or scaled -- bless our lives with comfort, laughter, and love. Bring photos of an animal you live with or love or admire or lost. Bring your well behaved dogs and cats or chickens, too. Live animals are welcome. So are beloved stuffies.
With Rev. Tracy Sprowls. What is the purpose of our fellowship, particularly in this time of distrust, disinformation, and dystopia? What mission guides us and what vision points the way?
with Caroline Pierce. We will contemplate four readings--one each from Buddhism, Taoism, the Cherokee and Christianity--about anger. On Zoom.
In October we mark Samhain: honoring our ancestors, opening ourselves to mystery, and embracing death as part of life. For the ritual, bring an ancestral object or something that represents your ancestor or ancestors and/or bring a story to share about your heritage or ancestors. The 30 minute ritual starts at 7 pm, after Fellowship Supper.
In this service, we will explore how we can communicate with each other to get the best out of our relationships.
With Rev. Tracy Sprowls. Compassion means “to suffer together.” Researchers define compassion “as the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another's suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering.” Where does compassion fit into the work of the fellowship?
with Rev. Tracy Sprowls. This morning we will explore the concept of safety from not only a physical stand point but the spiritual, psychological, and relational perspectives as well. After the service, we really hope you will stay for an informative and interactive program with the Safety Team here at the UU. Join our Safety Task Force this Sunday from 11:30-1:00 to learn about our safety policies, participate in hands-on training with a fire extinguisher and defibrillator, deescalation training and more. Kids will create de-stress boxes and explore how to handle fear through stories and activities.
with Rev. Tracy Sprowls. Our worship this morning comes from the poem called Practice Gratitude by Steve Garnaas-Holmes: Hold your gratitude like a seashell in your hand, and rehearse it. Come to it new again…Each day add to the things you allow yourself to tumble into gratitude for, until you become grateful for everything,
with Linda Bryce. Inspired by the humorous New York Times bestseller of the same name, we’ll explore our beliefs and experiences around death and dying, aligning with November’s traditional focus on end-of-life themes.
