This service will weave together the Social Justice music that our kids and families have been learning as well as a poetic presentation from the book, The 1619 Project: Born on the Water. We welcome Dr. Charles Dumas as our guest presenter!
This week our Pre-K/K friends are invited to our Sunday Multi-generational MLK service at 10 am in the Sanctuary.
The next Hot Topics event will explore the origins of contemporary racist behavior in the US utilizing excerpts from the acclaimed documentary, "Stamped from the Beginning," based on the book of the same name by Ibram X Kendi. Discussion to follow, facilitated by our Racial Justice Committee.
The UUFCC Jazz Band is open to all. Rehearsals occur on Sundays in the Sanctuary, although occasionally the band may rehearse in Room 6 due to major church events. Contact David Morris if interested.
The Stonebridge Winds will perform at UUFCC at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, as part of the UUFCC Music Series. This woodwind quintet was formed recently by bassoonist Daryl Durran. The other members are Ashley Shank, flute; Graham Mackenzie, oboe; Anthony Poehailos, clarinet, and Christi Smith, horn. Their program will include a variety of interesting music. The program is sponsored by the UUFCC Music Committee. We hope you can attend! $15 - suggested donation Students and children can attend free. How do you talk about things that hurt so deeply? Let’s talk War and Peace and Love. Side With Love is the Social Justice umbrella of the UUA. Todays’ service kicks off their 30 Days of Love 2024! It is an annual month of spiritual nourishment, political grounding, and shared practices of faith and justice.

Our companions in life are death and grief and yet they are so difficult to talk about, and rarely at that. In times of loss, how do we find healthy comfort? Further, is emotional comfort something human beings should even expect as part of life? In the death workshop we will go over practical matters, memorial services, and think about our own deaths. The grief workshop includes how to walk with grief, writing condolence notes, and digging deep into the grief of being human. This course, which takes a sobering introduction to societal collapse, then guides you through a supportive pathway to greater resilience and acceptance in the face of collapse, will meet through February 4 with leaders Kelle Kersten and Bob Flatley.
