Winter Solstice Service and Bonfire

Come celebrate the Winter Solstice on December 21 with the Song Circle and Rev. Tracy. This short service honors the longest day and the return of the Sun. After the service, stay and sing songs of the season followed by hot drinks and treats. The service takes place around the fire pit in the UUFCC yard. All ages are welcome!

Midyear Meeting / Chili Cookoff 2024

It's that time of year again, Chili and the Mid-Year Meeting. Chili Cookoff will begin at 10:45 after the service. Please sign up to help run this event and bring chili or sides to make this event a success. Voting tickets will be sold for $5 per person and $10 per family. Bring all Chili in a crock pot and bring a muffin tin to taste all the chili. (Sign up here!) Midyear Meeting will begin after the cook off at 11:30 AM. ...with Penny Eifrig. Scams are becoming more and more prevalent, yet people are still often too embarrassed to talk about it. But a scam is a violent crime, not unlike getting mugged. What can we learn about ourselves when we begin to learn about how your reptile brain functions, than when manipulated, can make you (and others) do things that seem inconceivable? Penny Eifrig shares her recent experience with amygdala hijack, and how it can explain many behaviors in today’s world.

UUFCC Music Series – “Flutist Cathy Herrera presents “Piazzolla, Pixinguinha and Premieres”

For this event, Cathy will be joined by several friends and family members. They are Cecilia Blackwell, flute, Brent Register, guitar; Gabriel Herrera, trombone; Jacob Herrera, trumpet and ukelele, and Jim Latten, percussion. Cathy will be playing five different flutes during this program, which will include Baroque music featuring traverso flute and music by the Argentinian composer Astor Pizzolla and the Brazilian composer Pixinguinha. In addition, she will premiere some of her original works and compositions by Brent Register that highlight the alto flute and piccolo. Is technology and social media the culprit? How does technology change our brains? How does it affect our ability to relate as humans? What about our spiritual lives?
