As the sun passes its halfway point between the summer solstice and fall equinox, we will gather by the UUFCC firepit on Saturday night, August 2, to celebrate this harvest season. Bring a chair, drink, food, and story or song. The fire will be lit around 8:30. Questions – contact Andy Lau.
With Clinton Judy, Leslie Brown, Ken Riznyk, and Dr Adam Smith. Join us in singing any of your favorite hymns from the UU hymnals, including Spirit of Life, Blue Boat Home, and many others. People will be given the opportunity to call out their favorite hymn for everyone to sing! Members of the choir will also be there to help to lead us in singing. Our 1st Sunday Plate Collection for August is Good Day Cafe.
With Caroline Pierce. We usually don’t have an opportunity to talk to each other beyond the topic at hand. This service is dedicated to getting to know each other. We will do a short icebreaker followed by time to chat.
with Peter and Elaine Jurs. Music: Ron Smith and also the Jazz Band with David Morris, conductor extraordinaire. Join us for our annual hUUmor Sunday summer service devoted to looking at our UUselves and the wider world with a sense of humor through jokes, stories, music, cartoons, and much, much more. Wear your most outlandish shirt or blouse and come prepared to laugh! Bring a short joke to share during the open mic part of the service.
with Ashley Hamlin. Join Ashley on an interactive quest for rest, discovery, learning, and growth as she guides us into deeper connection with our wider State College community, our work in bending the arc of history toward justice, and establishing joyful rejuvenation as we get into "good trouble" on the road that stretches far into the distance.
with Chas Brua. We'll explore our reactions to poems by three very different writers--Yosa Buson, Mark Doty, and Denise Levertov.
with Kadri Nizam and Lukas Stone. Music: Bhakti Chan. Join us for a thought-provoking exploration of how the vastness of the cosmos can deepen our understanding of both the universe and our shared human responsibility. This presentation will connect the awe-inspiring discoveries of astronomy with Unitarian Universalist principles, highlighting the importance of scientific inquiry in shaping our future and advocating for the continued support of space exploration and scientific research.
with Elaine Jurs. Music: Adam Smith. Join us for a short Worship Service, followed by a "work hour!" You may choose from a list of tasks both inside and outside the building. Grab a snack after the service, and come ready to help tidy up our Fellowship spaces. Working together is an act of service and love for our Beloved Community! We will have tasks for those who need to sit. Thank you!
