RE: Pre-K & K
Each week our kids gather to explore our world in light of our UU values. Pre-K/K friends will engage in guided exploration of various topics with their wonderful teachers, Sue Smith and Rocky Landers, downstairs in Room D.
RE: Middle School
Middle School youth engage in UU Identity through themes each month and fun activities using our Soul Matters curriculum. In services led by Rev. Tracy Sprowls, kids remain in the Sanctuary until the Wisdom Lesson, then go to class. In multigenerational services, they stay for the entire service.
RE Spirit Play Room: K-2nd Grade
Welcome to the Spirit Play Room! Each Sunday morning, your child will be welcomed into Room C, a quiet space with shelves lined with art supplies, story boxes, and mindful play stations. They will sit together in a circle where their teacher will present a story that invites your child into wondering about our UU values, history, rituals, social justice, and world faith traditions. Then they will be invited to process the story on their own through art and mindful play. They will choose what to explore on their own. This gentle, imaginative space will give them the opportunity to slow [...]
RE World Blessings Room: 3rd-5th Grade
Welcome to the World Blessings Room! An important tenet of Unitarian Universalism is an appreciation of our world and its many blessings. World Blessings introduces our older elementary friends to our world's diverse countries, religions, and holidays through the shared activity of cooking! Cooking is a wonderful way to engage in cultural appreciation and education without appropriation. We'll engage with information about the culture from which the recipes originate, as well as the country, religion, holiday, or holy day being studied. We may also read a story that gives us an appreciation of the people we are focusing on. In addition, [...]
The Vanishing Voting Rights Act by Jesse Barlow
At a time when voter suppression measures and gerrymandering are more omnipresent than anytime since the Voting Right Act (VRA) first passed in 1965, the U.S. Supreme Court has significantly weakened that act. In this presentation/discussion, we cover give a quick history of the VRA, how it affects Pennsylvania, how and why voter suppression in the name of fighting "voter fraud" has come back, why voter ID laws and citizenship tests are vote suppression, why we need a new VRA, why the Supreme Court must be tamed, and why our elected representatives must be asked to help us do it.
UUFCC Jazz Band Rehearsal
The UUFCC Jazz Band is open to all. Rehearsals occur on Sundays in the Sanctuary, although occasionally the band may rehearse in Room 6 due to major church events. Contact David Morris if interested.
