The Centre County Interfaith Coalition for Gun Safety is an alliance of local religious leaders and community members committed to building a peaceful society free from preventable gun violence. Through our work, we educate on issues related to gun violence, advocate for responsible and safe gun ownership, and unite with local, state, and federal officials on matters of gun safety that benefit the whole community. The UUFCC Song Circle offers a fun, monthly opportunity to make music together with voices, guitars, banjos, ukuleles, drums, kazoos, etc. Anyone from the Fellowship or local community can join us to play, sing, or listen. We go around the circle with each person choosing the next song, either from our song-books or a song they brought to share. Contact Pam Short for more information. |

The AAUW State College Used Book Sale, one of the largest used book sales in the country, is a popular community event held annually in the spring since 1962. During the sale, thousands of visitors converge on Penn State’s Snider Agricultural Arena to browse and purchase up to quarter of a million books and other materials. Special sale features include children’s books, collectibles, puzzles and games, a half-price day, and a “bag day” with further discounts. Read more here for a map, and information about how proceeds are used. In October, the Board took an initial crack at updating the UUFCC mission. This is what we came up with: Creating a beloved community through lifelong service and spiritual exploration. The next part of our process is to review and revise our vision statement. Once we do this, we will revisit the mission statement incorporating what we learned from your comments and the visioning exercise. You are invited to join us as Rev. During the sale, thousands of visitors converge on Penn State’s Snider Agricultural Arena to browse and purchase up to quarter of a million books and other materials. Special sale features include children’s books, collectibles, puzzles and games, a half-price day, and a “bag day” with further discounts. with Rev. Dr. Richard Speck. We celebrate Memorial Day with a service a remembering the sacrifices that men and women have made for our freedoms and way of life. The Reverend Doctor Richard Speck is the retired District Executive for the Joseph Priestley District (JPD) of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. He was named Minister Emeritus in 2019. Previously, he served nine years as minister to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, FL, before coming to the JPD in 2000 as Acting District Executive. We are a women's book club that meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM. We choose our books once a year, and the person who recommends the book generally leads the discussion. The group is hosted by a different member each month. New members and visitors are welcome at any meeting. This month's book is:

If you'd like more information about the budget before the annual meeting, please plan to attend this Zoom session. Our Treasurer, Martha Butler, will show the reports she has developed on the proposed budget vs. this current year's spending and the thinking that went into the various items in the budget. An exciting excursion to the Priestley house in PA! We will need to bring chairs and tables, food, and drink, and musical instruments. It takes about ~75 minutes to Northumberland by Route 80, and a little longer on Route 45 or 192, although they are more pleasant. Plan on leaving about 10:30 from State College, set up picnic around noon. Have a brief speech, and then impromptu music and poetry and whatever. We will eat and park by the chapel. The house/Laboratory site is a few blocks’ walk away. This is informal, so you can come and go as suits your [...] |
