...with Wayne Osgood. The banjo is a uniquely American instrument, developed by enslaved people from Africa, who had played similar instruments in their homelands. Yet in the 1890s almost every college campus featured a well-dressed banjo orchestra, and today the banjo mainly appears in bluegrass, country, and folk music played by White Americans. The banjo’s strange evolution is a lesson in race relations in America that we will follow in music and pictures. Each week our kids gather to explore our world in light of our UU values. Pre-K/K friends will engage in guided exploration of various topics with their wonderful teachers, Sue Smith and Rocky Landers, downstairs in Room D. 1st through 5th grade kids are learning our values through the monthly congregational themes, and have a bi-monthly social justice book project and activity. In services led by Rev. Tracy Sprowls, children remain in the Sanctuary until the Wisdom Lesson, then go downstairs to class. In multigenerational services, they stay for the entire service. |

Join us for our annual hUUmor Sunday summer service devoted to looking at our UUselves and the wider world with a sense of humor through jokes, stories, music, cartoons, and much, much more. Wear your most outlandish shirt or blouse and come prepared to laugh! Bring a short family-friendly joke to share during the open mic part of the service. Each week our kids gather to explore our world in light of our UU values. Each gathering considers a topic offered by that evening’s presenter, who also suggests one or two related questions for silent reflection or meditation. After the quiet, all who wish are invited to share their experiences and insights. Topics vary. |

The Justice Singers of Centre County are an open community gathering for those who find power, healing, and connection through song in the face of injustice. The group sings songs of protest, resilience, and hope, drawing from resources like Rise Up Singing. Participants are encouraged to bring themselves, a friend, and an instrument if they like, but no experience is required—just a willingness to lift your voice. The circle also explores opportunities to sing at local actions and events, such as the May Day Strong Day of Action, Pride, and other protests. |

Located at the Foxdale Village Auditorium With guest speaker Janet Swim: Every day, we encounter claims about climate change through news stories, social media, and conversations with others. While some information is accurate, other claims can be misleading or intentionally deceptive. In this engaging presentation, Dr. Janet K. Swim, Professor of Psychology and Associate Director of the Penn State Climate Consortium, will explore why some common approaches to correcting climate misinformation are often ineffective. |

The UUFCC Song Circle offers a fun, monthly opportunity to make music together with voices, guitars, banjos, ukuleles, drums, kazoos, etc. Anyone from the Fellowship or local community can join us to play, sing, or listen. We go around the circle with each person choosing the next song, either from our song-books or a song they brought to share. Contact Pam Short for more information. |

Transitions are everywhere and they are everyday. What questions do you carry with you for those life changing transitions? What hopes or fears find their way into your consciousness? What can you offer others as they face their own transitions? This is a time to connect deeply and richly about the transitions, good and bad, in our lives. |

...with Rev. Tracy Sprowls. All of your animal friends are welcome to come to this special service honoring them. All animals should be on a leash or in a cage for everyone’s safety. If you have an animal that has passed away, bring a picture of them and we will take time to honor our lost friends and companions. Children are welcome to bring a special stuffed animal to be blessed too. Animal blessings originate out of the Catholic tradition; however, many Unitarian Universalists congregations have adopted this practice and made it a uniquely UU type of blessing.
